Support needed for New Brunswick anti-fracking protest

Fracking involves drilling wells that fracture shale rock beds and pumping millions of gallons of pressurized fresh water and toxic chemicals (including known carcinogens and neurotoxins) into the well to bring up natural gas. This hydraulic fracturing process is known to cause earthquakes, contaminate water, and disrupt animal life. Millions of litres of fresh water become contaminated with a toxic cocktail of chemicals, petroleum by-products and with the naturally-occurring ionizing radiation that is brought up from deep within the earth. These chemical and radio-toxins travel through the food chain. There is no guaranteed safe way to treat and dispose of this dirty waste water. Some dirty frackwater may have already been dumped into the ocean

Geothermal Energy News – Global Industry Analysis, Size, Share, Growth, Trends and Forecast

Geothermal energy is a type of heat energy that is produced in the earth’s core. This energy is utilized in a wide range of applications from power stations to simple pumping systems. Geothermal energy is considered as a renewable source of energy since the water which is captured in the form of heat while extracting geothermal energy is continuously replenished by rainfall and again the heat generated from it can be used. A major concentration of geothermal energy on the planet is in the area bordering the Pacific Ocean and is called the Ring of Fire.
