The Annual Electricity, Steel, Modern Homes & Offices Exhibition and Conference 2013 Event with the theme ‘‘New Markets, New Possibilities’’ is geared towards bringing together all power, steel, modern homes & offices equipment manufacturers and industry players across the globe to the heart of Africa, Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria, from 28-30 May, 2013.
With Nigeria recording a current trade surplus of about 9.2 Billion USD and balance of trade of 14.6 Billion USD, investment in the sub-region is taking a new dimension, thereby, becoming more attractive to global economy key players looking to reach developing economies for business. The forum will also encourage the fostering of partnership of all key players to bridge the gap between the demand and supply infrastructures and services delivery through competition and responsiveness to opportunities. Also noting investment opportunities in the country has been further boosted with the on-going rehabilitation of the various hydro and thermal power stations, the building of 19 transmission lines and National Independent Power Plants (NIPPs) projects across the country.
Speaking to newsmen, Dr. Kune Igoni, the Director of Events at West Africa Exhibitions & Conferences, Organizers of the Trade Show, said, the Event is expected to have the participation of Nigeria’s Ministries of Trade and Investment, Power, Mines & Steel Development, as well as, the vibrant private sector and it is to be declared open by the Nigerian President, Dr. Goodluck E. Dr. Igoni further explained that, participants in the 1st edition (Power Generation & Steel Production Exhibition and Conference) in May, last year, called for the expansion of the event to include Modern Homes and Office designs, building materials, furniture and appliances to synergize with the steel and power industries. This event is therefore strategic for all key sector players to now participate as more than 1,000 International Exhibitors, Delegates and Visitors from various sectors will be on ground to exhibit and showcase equipment and technologies on Modern Building Materials, Appliances, Furniture, Electronics, Solar Energy, Bio Energy, Windmill and Gas Lines Building, as well as, Steel finished products such as Automotive Parts, Pressure Tubes, Pipes and Farm Machineries.
Considering the endorsements coming from the Nigerian government key personnel including the Transmission Company of Nigeria, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, the Niger Delta Power Holding Company, the Electric Power Foundation and Nigeria’s Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, it is an indication that the trade show will record a monumental success Dr. Igoni pointed out.
